Networks Induced in Nonlinear Chemical Reaction System by Symmetries of Transformation Groups

Physical systems possess a structure and display dynamics. The article describes how a structure of one class of systems, which are encountered in chemical kinetics, can be revealed. The structure may be represented by a graph that has some similarities with the graph used to display the structure of chemical molecules. The graphs are induced by one-parameter transformation groups in nonlinear ...

On a new method for finding generalized equivalence transformations for differential equations involving arbitrary functions

A new efficient method for finding the generalized equivalence transformations related to a differential equation system via its extended classical symmetries is presented. This technique applies to the case when the arbitrary functions involve only the independent variables of the system. Intriguingly, for this type of equations, any symbolic manipulation program designed to find classical Lie...

Potential equivalence transformations for nonlinear diffusion-convection equations

that have a number of applications in mathematical physics (see for instance [2, 3, 13]). Here d = d(u) and k = k(u) are arbitrary smooth functions of u, d(u) 6=0. The linear case of (1) (d, k = const) was studied by S. Lie [14] in his classification of linear second-order PDEs with two independent variables. (See also modern treatment of this subject in [17].) Various classes of quasi-linear e...

Classification of Second-order Ordinary Differential Equations Admitting Lie Groups of Fibre-preserving Point Symmetries

We use Elie Cartan's method of equivalence to give a complete classification, in terms of differential invariants, of second-order ordinary differential equations admitting Lie groups of fibre-preserving point symmetries. We then apply our results to the determination of all second-order equations which are equivalent, under fibre-preserving transformations, to the free particle equation. In ad...

Calculations of Dihedral Groups Using Circular Indexation

‎In this work‎, ‎a regular polygon with $n$ sides is described by a periodic (circular) sequence with period $n$‎. ‎Each element of the sequence represents a vertex of the polygon‎. ‎Each symmetry of the polygon is the rotation of the polygon around the center-point and/or flipping around a symmetry axis‎. ‎Here each symmetry is considered as a system that takes an input circular sequence and g...
